This is a selection…

…of books, sites and other things I have found useful as a City Kid Parent. I am always turning to books, websites, groups, professionals for advice in this parenting journey. I have included my favorites, here.

The Happy Kid Handbook
I love this book.

This is a book which not only serves me now but, I know, will be very useful later on. Ms Hurley identifies common traits and behavior ‘types’ -something I found tremendously useful – and gives specific suggestions on working with kids at their level of readiness. I love, love, love this book

Tovah Klein…

…has been so helpful to us. Ms Klein runs the Barnard Toddler Center, and joined the faculty in 1995. There is not much she does not know about toddlers. We were lucky enough to be a part of Ms Klein’s parenting group. Her insights are invaluable and she is generous with her knowledge. She is passionate about children and parenting, and her love of what she does shows through every word she speaks and writes.

Mommy Poppins

Is there anything going on in NYC which is not listed in this wonderfully resourceful website? The listings are amazing. They even have a calendar. You can select the day and it will list all of the events going on around town. It

Vitacost

For City-Kid Cooking, this is a fantastic resource for all foods, wild and wonderful. I use it to buy gluten-free products, sugar substitutes, pasta, organic snacks. What is so great about them is they have regular sales, they offer a regular 10% discount, they have fantastic customer service and all that heavy produce is delivered directly to our door. Plus, if you use this link, you will get an additional $10 off. Honestly, I use them all the time and would not recommend them if I didn’t love them!
