Anish Kapoor Descension

City-Kid Review:

Where does it go?
Down.
Then comes back up?
Maybe.

I am an enormous Anish Kapoor fan. I have gone to several of his exhibits in London and try to see his commissions in NYC. Descension is simultaniously marvelous, calming, sinister meditative, thought-provoking and sensual. Quite remarkable for a single art installation.

Water circles, and endlessly descends into a central whirlpool, in the middle of a small field. It audibly rumbles and mesmerically rumbles. We have spent chunks of time simply watching the movement of water

Need to Knows:

Location: Brooklyn Bridge Park. Closest subway is the A/C to High Street. Once you come out of the subway, head downhill to the river; Brooklyn Bridge will be on your right. Once you get to the ferry dock, turn left and you will see the art work.

Descension -sadly – closes September 10th.

Cost: free.

Top-Tip

Continue you the circular theme with a trip to Jane’s Carousel or continue the water theme with a dip in the Pop-Up Pool.
