Spring at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden
City-Kid Review:
I sang to the tree!
This is a gorgeous garden, especially at this time of year.
The cherry trees are in full blossom and look divine. Bluebell borders, tulips in full throttle, splendid border flowers of all kinds.
It is a true urban oasis, from which the surrounding busy roads seem to disappear.
I love this garden. It is a serious horticultural center with a relaxed attitude. Folks can wander on the grass, sit and contemplate the pond, meander along a stream and sit among beautiful blossoming cherry trees.
Their Japanese garden was the first to be developed in the US.
Early spring is the time to visit the Magnolia Plaza, which features yellow magnolias which were developed at this garden in the 1950s. They are splendid.
I was interested to find out that they have the oldest continually operating children’s garden with a botanic garden, in the world. City Kid absolutely loved the newer Discovery Garden, which is fantastic, with many exploration stations embedded with in it. City Kid particularly loved scooping out water from the pond, pouring it onto a white tray and exploring for living organisms. There is an outdoor xylophone and children are encouraged to sing to the trees. How can you not oblige?
Need to Knows:
This is a wonderful place to visit with your City Kid.

They have regular events throughout the spring.
Location: 990 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11225. However, there are several entrances around the park.
They have a lovely cafeteria called Yellow Magnolia Cafe, which is reasonably priced and has a children’s menu. There is, also, a canteen with outside chairs and tables.
