You’re Up and Then You’re Down and then…

City-Kid Review:

Come on Mummy, jump!
I’m jumping!
Jump! Jump!
(breathless) I’m jumping!
Jump higher!

Occasionally I write about fun adventures available within two hours of the city. This is one of those adventures.

When a friend invited us to a birthday party at Bounce! in Valley Cottage, a little further north of Manhattan and West of Nyack, some in our family were resistant. I had a good feeling, though, so we rented a car and went for it. It was worth every one of the 45 minutes it took to get there.

As you might imagine, it truly is an enormous sports hall lined with trampolines. Some lie horizontally next to each other, while others slope upwards against a wall. There are areas for younger kids, a bouncy house for under 5s, a trampoline from which you can jump into a pit of foam blocks, an upwardly sloping trampoline leading up to a basketball net for those slam-dunks (it’s harder than it looks because you are, well, bouncing) a net bridge and hanging blocks. The place is enormous and well-staffed with enthusiastic youngsters ensuring the right folks bounce  in the right trampoline areas and, where necessary, folks are being fair and taking turns with their bouncing.

You know me, I was hesitant but City Kid charged onto the first available trampolines, running up and down the slopes while simultaneously bouncing. I couldn’t resist. I removed my shoes and on I charged on in. I immediately thought of a high school friend who broke a leg while climbing down off of a trampoline. I had to laugh – these trampolines were at floor level – the entire floor was made of trampolines!

Then memories of how much I loved trampolining class at school. I absolutely loved it. I guess such distant memories returned as I cannot remember the last time I was on a trampoline. But, it is not just any old trampoline, it is an entire room filled with trampolines. You can go for a bouncy walk going from trampoline to trampoline.

It is a surprisingly fantastic work out, as well. Simply trying to stay upright uses all of your core muscles as well as your leg and pelvis muscles.

The entire place is GREAT! We highly recommend.
